Effective date: July 1, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of onleylaw.ca and any related web pages, forms, and online tools operated by Onley Law Professional Corporation (“Onley Law”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing or using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.
1. No legal advice
The content on this website is provided for general information only. It is not legal advice, it does not take account of your specific circumstances, and it should not be relied on as a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer. Reading this website, contacting us through it, or receiving general information from us does not create a lawyer and client relationship.
2. No solicitor-client relationship
A solicitor-client relationship with Onley Law is formed only when all of the following have occurred: we and you have signed a written retainer agreement; we have completed client identification and verification as required by the Law Society of Ontario; we have completed a conflicts of interest check; and we have confirmed in writing that we have accepted your matter. Until all of those steps are complete, no solicitor-client relationship exists, and you should not assume that any information you send to us is protected by solicitor-client privilege.
3. Do not send confidential or time-sensitive information
Please do not send us confidential, sensitive, or time-sensitive information through this website, by email, or through any online form until we have confirmed a solicitor-client relationship with you in writing. Information you send to us before that time may not be treated as confidential or privileged, and we may be unable to act for you if doing so would create a conflict of interest. If your matter is urgent or involves a limitation period or a filing deadline, contact a lawyer directly and without delay.
4. Our use of artificial intelligence
Onley Law uses technology, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools, to help us deliver legal services efficiently and to operate our practice. We do so in a manner intended to comply with our professional obligations as licensees of the Law Society of Ontario. In particular:
- A licensed lawyer reviews and is responsible for the legal services and work product we provide. We do not delegate professional judgment to AI tools. Any document, analysis, or communication prepared with the assistance of AI is reviewed and verified by a lawyer before we rely on it or provide it to you.
- We may use AI tools to assist with tasks such as drafting, research support, summarizing information, transcribing meetings and calls, and administrative work. AI-assisted work is checked for accuracy by a lawyer.
- We take steps to protect the confidentiality of client and personal information when we use AI tools, consistent with our duty of confidentiality. We do not enter client confidential information into public generative AI tools, and we do not permit client confidential information to be used to train third-party AI models. Our use of personal information with AI tools is described further in our Privacy Policy.
- Some content on this website may have been prepared with the assistance of AI tools and reviewed by us for accuracy. That content remains general information only and is subject to these Terms.
- This website does not provide an automated tool or chatbot that gives legal advice. Any automated feature on the website is for general information or convenience only, does not provide legal advice, and does not create a solicitor-client relationship.
- For some services, our engagement terms describe the limits of what we author. Where we review a document without revising it, we do not take authorship of the language in that document, including any language generated by AI tools or copied from online templates or other sources. The scope of each engagement is set out in the applicable retainer or engagement terms.
5. Accuracy and currency of information
We try to keep the information on this website accurate and current, but the law changes and errors can occur. We do not warrant that the website is accurate, complete, or up to date. Fees, timelines, and service descriptions shown on this website are subject to change and are confirmed only in a written engagement.
6. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise noted, the content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, and the Onley Law name and marks, is owned by or licensed to Onley Law and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view and print content for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not reproduce, republish, or use our content or marks for any other purpose without our written permission.
7. Third-party links and services
This website may link to third-party websites and may use third-party services and tools. We provide these links and tools for convenience only. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of third-party websites or services. Your use of a third-party website or service is governed by that third party’s own terms.
8. Availability of the website
We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of this website at any time and without notice. We are not responsible for any unavailability of the website.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Onley Law is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, this website, or from your reliance on any information on it. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law or under the rules that govern the conduct of lawyers in Ontario.
